Anchorages

Although there are many dive sites in the area, there are really no officially authorized anchorages.  You can anchor outside the  breakwater at Abu Tig Marina temporarily, but you are open to the NW winds and protected from the sea only  by the reefs in the area.  One boat who wanted to anchor in the area was told by officials that they would have to pay US $5 per day, but that is the charge per day at Abu Tig Marina if you are paying by the month.

Grocery Stores -
  • Best Way Mini Mart - Tamr Henna, El Gouna.  This small store has all the basics, but no fresh vegetables or meat.
  • El Mohandes Supermarket - Tamr Henna.  Just around the corner from the mini mart near the Photo store.  This store is a bit larger and carries beer, wine, cheeses, and meat and other fresh food items.

Liquor - (Beer and Wine) - Supermarket - Tamr Henna, El Gouna complex.  The local beer is good, especially the Sakara Gold.  The local white wine that we liked is Cru des Ptolmes Pinot Blanc.

Fuel - Reasonably priced diesel can be arranged with Marina Office.  They will collect your jerry cans, fill them and then deliver them back to the boat.  (It is difficult to rent a car and to fill your own jerry cans and bring them into the El Gouna Complex due to the very tight security throughout the resort.)

Water - Drinking water can be purchased in 20 liter containers that are delivered to your boat.  Arrange with the Marina Office.

Propane Gas Canister Refill - Contact marina office

Shopping Centers -
  • Abu Tig Marina, Tamr Henna and Downtown El Gouna have small shopping areas which sell mostly souvenirs, perfumes, clothing and jewelry.  Especially nice are the gold or silver cartouches with your name in hieroglyphics.
